The End Goal – To Depart This World With A Smile

We are born into this world crying and hopefully we get to depart this world with a smile.

We are all born to Eat, Shit and Sleep. In between these 3 actions, we would either be working, studying or entertaining ourselves. When I say entertaining ourselves – it means the stuff we do to keep ourselves occupied to pass time. For example, you reading this article, hahaha; boss scolding his/her staff; you complaining to another person (or ranting on social media) and etc, etc, etc.

Basically what we do while we are alive is polluting mother earth and sooner or later the time will come when we all have to die. Whatever you and I have achieved (or whatever actions that benefit our future generations) will never be appreciated in centuries to come. I’d like to give an example where I would ask – when was the last time you visited your great great grandfather’s grave? Well, I actually visited my great grandfather’s grave in April during “Cheng Ming” but I have never bothered to visit my great great grandpa’s grave and I don’t even know where it is (well actually I kind of “know” where it is but not the exact location as I have never been to that region)!

Many of us are only concerned with or consumed by what is happening around us at this very moment, and complain about this and that.

If you really take a good look at what is happening in the world, I tell you, if you are reading this, it means you are very fortunate compared to at least 88% of the world’s population (7 billion). FYI, in order to be in the world’s top 10% wealthiest, you only need to have assets (positive net-worth) of USD77,000 (about RM300K)! Nowadays one can hardly find a double storey terrace house or an apartment in Klang Valley for less than RM300K (some single storey terrace houses cost more than RM500K!). So, you can safely say that every owner of a landed property (terrace house) or even a condominium unit in Klang Valley is amongst the top 10% richest people on earth!

But what is the point of being amongst the richest in the world if one does not get to live forever? The moment you and I die and the Death Certificate is issued, our names will be automatically erased from our assets. The assets we own while we are alive will then be distributed as stipulated under the law or as per our instructions in our will. So much so, you and I and everyone else go to our graves broke and penniless. And you know what is the worst part of all is when you die? When you are still alive in the hospital, the doctors and nurses and everyone else will address you by your name, e.g. Mr. XYZ; but the moment you die, you are referred to as “the body”!!! I am not joking.

Once again, if you are reading this, it means you are educated and should have a comfortable life. But yet many of us do not find happiness on planet earth and die unhappy.

Having said the above, in my article titled Love & Gratitude Lead To Inner Peace, I mentioned – ” The thing is, it is impossible for us to constantly be in a happy state, but it is possible to achieve constant calmness and contented state.

Once we are at peace with ourselves, we can then have unconditional love for others. With unconditional love for others, then we have no feelings of hatred and miracles can happen. If we are grateful for the things we have (what we really need is just a roof over our heads and food on the table), we will then be contented and have no jealousy or animosity towards others. Therefore, if our heart is pure with Love & Gratitude, we will be at peace with ourselves and life would be wonderful….. that’s enlightenment.”

Today, I am going to touch on the subject of happiness once again, and I would like to start off with what I read in an article by Mr. Adi Ignatius long ago in Readers Digest followed with my comments:

Two of the 32 people in my Rhodes Scholar class spent time in Prison we are talking about well-educated people here that attended one of the best universities on planet earth. But well-educated doesn’t necessarily means that he/she is a an ethical person and/or may perform illegal acts out of greed.

Your decision about allocating your personal time, energy and talent shape your life’s strategy – yes, we make the choices in life and the choices we choose will determine the outcome. No one is to be blame for our failures but I can tell you also that no one is successful without receiving a helping hand from others. Always be grateful to those who have assisted you in life.

People who are driven to excel have this unconscious propensity to underinvest in their families and overinvest in their careers, even though intimate and loving family relationships are the most powerful and enduring source of happiness – I fully agree with this statement. I would like to add that our memories of our happy times together with our family is what we treasure most at the end of the day. Do read my article, Grandparents Parents Children. Not only must we invest time with our children, we should also invest time with our parents and never ever disrespect your elders or else your children may do the same to you.

Children build self-esteem by doing things that are hard and learning what works I have mentioned several times that young children nowadays are spoon fed and this is certainly what we should avoid.

Avoid “just this once” …. Had I crossed the line that one time, I would have done it over and over….. The lesson I learned is that it’s easier to hold to your principles 100% of the time than it is to hold to them 98% of the time – this is so true. I will add that one should never be greedy. This statement by Mr. Ignatius should be remembered by all to avoid ending up in jail or being in the shit hole of debt (always pay your credit card Statement Balance before the Due Date).

People allocating fewer and fewer resources to the things they would have once said it mattered most – this is so true too. Do take some time to think about this statement and see how you are currently spending your resources and imagine if the consequences of your present actions will yield your future desired vision of happiness. Do you want to die rich and lonely? You may have a lot of relatives hanging around you but their reasons are not for your happiness but wanting to help you squander away your wealth or looking forward to their inheritance. Or would you prefer a loving family that will be by your side when you are dying and your children having more wealth than you from their own hard work from the education you provided them and you knowing deep inside your heart that you have no regrets. And when you die, hopefully your children do not need to argue about who should be paying for the burial plot by comparing how much they have gained from you, not joking once again.

In addition to the above, I am going to share with you how to find find eternal happiness 🙂

Before I proceed, the word “God” below refers to your own interpretation or belief. For the atheist, I guess it refers to Universe Energy as everything is energy which cannot be destroyed but is converted from one form to another. FYI, I’m a Taoist. Therefore, I pray to many “Gods” and I also believe in Universe Energy.

Have you heard of Ben-Shahar (aka Tal David Ben-Shachar)? He’s a lecturer at Harvard University. Ben-Shahar created the most popular course in Harvard’s history that teaches you how to learn to be happier! The Positive Psychology class taught by Ben Shahar attracts 1400 students per semester and 20% of Harvard graduates take this elective course. According to Ben Shahar, the class – which focuses on happiness, self-esteem and motivation – gives students the tools to succeed and face life with more joy. According to a WhatsApp message I received, it seems that in his class, he shares 14 key tips for improving the quality of our personal status and contributing to a positive life:

Tip 1 – Thank God for everything you have. * Write down 10 things you have in your life that give you happiness. Focus on the good things!

My comments – In a single word, be GRATEFUL.

Tip 2 – Practice physical activity. * Experts say exercising helps improve mood. 30 minutes of exercise is the best antidote against sadness and stress.

My comments – YES, I fully agree. I strongly recommend that you sign up for Wellness Medical Qigong which not only improves your health but also calms you so that you are less stressed 🙂

Tip 3 – Breakfast. * Some people miss breakfast for lack of time or not to get fat. Studies show that breakfast gives you energy, helps you think and perform your activities successfully.

My Comments – Yes, we definitely need to eat to have energy.  In my case, for breakfast I need a cup of coffee and a smoke to get going, hahaha.

Tip 4 – Assertive. * Ask what you want and say what you think. Being assertive helps improve your self-esteem. Being left out and remaining silent creates sadness and hopelessness.

My comments  – yes, let the other person know clearly how you feel/think and what you want. That’s why my articles are freaking detailed and comprehensive, some people call me long winded!

Tip 5 – Spend your money on experiences. * A study found that 75% of people felt happier when they invested their money in travel, courses and classes; While only the rest said they felt happier when buying things.

My comment  – That is why I have been telling you guys to use up your children’s future inheritance by going on holidays with your loved ones and then print hardcopies of the photos taken so that the happy memories can be revisited over and over again.

Tip 6 – Face your challenges. * Studies show that the more you postpone something, the more anxiety and tension you generate. Write short weekly lists of tasks and complete them.

My comments – Yes, set a target/plan and get it over with. If you have a dislike and hatred for someone, it is you who is suffering and not the other person (I know it is not easy, but read my Love & Gratitude articles and you may find inner peace like I did).

Tip 7 – Put everywhere nice memories, phrases and photos of your loved ones. * Fill your fridge, your computer, your desk, your room, YOUR LIFE of beautiful memories.

My Comments – Once again, go print hardcopies of the photos in you Smartphone or in other digital storage so that the memories are forever!!!

Tip 8 – Always greet and be nice to other people. * More than 100 inquiries state that just smiling changes the mood.

My comments – if you send out positive energy to others, you will be blessed many times back in return.

Tip 9 – Wear comfortable shoes. * If your feet hurt you, you become moody, says Dr. Keinth Wapner, President of the American Orthopedics Association.

My comments – this is freaking true. Who cares what shoes you are wearing? More importantly get a comfortable pair od shoes that are “wider”. Always try out shoes before buying and make sure your feet feel great and not you feeling “shiok sendiri” wearing a particular design.

Tip 10 – Take care of your posture. * Walk straight with your shoulders slightly backwards and the front view helps to maintain a good mood.

My comments – If you have bad posture, most probably your body is adjusting itself so that you are not in pain. Good news – Wellness Medical Qigong practitioners may be able to assist you and “correct” your bad posture.

Tip 11 – Listen to music. * It is proven that listening to music awakens you to sing, this will make your life happy.

My comments – I have mentioned previously in one of my facebook posts that it is good to send your childern from an early age for some music lessons. E.g. At age 3 to 5, Yamaha Music School and when they are in primary school, let them take piano lessons. Even if they stop piano lessons after a year or two, what they have learned will benefit them in their lifetime.

Tip 12 – What you eat has an impact on your mood. * Do not skip meals, eat lightly every 3 to 4 hours and keep glucose levels stable.- Avoid excess white flour and sugar.- Eat everything! Healthy- Vary your food.

My comments – we need to eat to have energy. And yes, less sugar and instead consume 10 different types of vegetables and fruits daily and the easiest way is to blend them into a smoothie 🙂

Tip 13 – Take care of yourself and feel attractive. * 70% of people say they feel happier when they think they look good.

My comments – Once again, I strongly recommend Wellness Medical Qigong where the exercises are really good for your health. You will feel more energetic and therefore feel young once again, hahaha.

Tip 14 – Fervently believe in God. * With him nothing is impossible! Happiness is like a remote control, we lose it every time, we go crazy looking for it and many times without knowing it, we are sitting on top of it …

My comments – God (or to some Universe Energy) is very fair. Like the saying goes, what goes around come around. If you do good, you shall be blessed. And if you are evil or hurt/cheat someone else, you will be punished by God sooner or later. And when you pray, ask and you shall receive,  by making known to God your intentions clearly. As for asking for material stuff – that one you may have to speak to the devil and make a deal by selling your soul, hahahaha.

And last but not  least, be grateful for what you have and you will find inner peace.

Well, in respect of the above, you don’t need to go to Harvard to take Ben-Shahar’s class on how to be happy, all you need to do is read my articles and learn to be grateful for whatever, including reading my articles, hahaha.

And if you are new to this blog, I recommend that you click here and read my article titled = Love & Gratitude, Remember These Words, It Will Help You To Achieve Inner Peace.

Sometimes, blessings come in a form that you may not see and may even sadden, irritate or pissed you off. Sit back, analyze the situation from all angles with an open mind and move forward by listening to your heart and you will eventually find that what you thought was a bad omen is actually a blessing in disguise 🙂

Once again, all we really need on planet earth is food to Eat, a place to Sleep soundly and healthy and strong enough to Shit. If you are able to Eat, Shit and Sleep, whatever else is bonus, so be grateful.

Side note: If you are having problems sleeping, that is a problem, do contact me and I will try to assist you using Blocked Qi Release Technique and Wellness Medical Qigong. You have nothing to lose.

Eventually all of us will die. Some of us will have the time to prepare for our departure from the living but some will leave in a sudden. Worst death is we have to suffer before we die. Best is we get to have a last meal with our loved ones and then take a last breath. We are born into this world crying and hopefully we get to depart this world with a smile.

With love,

K K @ The Inner Qi [Life Force] Project
