On 13 May 2017, I was once again blessed where I started my very first class on Medical QiGong and gained a new sifu, Master Dr Tan Soo Kong.
So what is Medical QiGong? Well, below is what is stated in the website belonging to Master Tan Soo Kong, founder of Wellness Medical QiGong.
Medical QiGong is a gift of Chinese civilization to mankind. It follows the principles of TCM (Traditional Chinese Medicine). It is a way of influencing and directing Qi for medical benefits rather than using needles, herbs or massage, although these can be supplementary.
Medical QiGong focuses on health maintenance, health enhancement, self-healing methodology and techniques of treating others.
Medical Qigong has gained worldwide popularity in recent years. It has been used to treat all kinds of physical and emotional ailments, especially as complementary therapy for cancer. In China, major TCM universities and hospitals have dedicated departments for Medical Qigong. Master Tan Soo Kong has vast theoretical knowledge, practical experience and hands-on expertise in the use of Medical Qigong approaches and techniques. Master Tan’s compassion and yearning to help others inspired him to research and develop a unique medical Qigong system and associated training program called Wellness Medical Qigong (WMQ).
Generally, Wellness Medical QiGong courses consist of several modules. For your own well being, you only need to take the Qigong Essential Course and Self-healing Course. Total 4 days to learn the 2 modules, i.e. 2 weekends (Saturday and Sunday), and you will learn a new skill that will benefit you for the rest of your life.

The reason why I am taking this course is because (1) hopefully by practicing QiGong I can keep my body fit instead of going to the gym for “hard” exercise to build up muscles which turn back to fats if I stop going to the gym, (2) the advance modules enable me to help others on their issues and (3) it is conducted in English!

I am pleased to announce that I have completed all the Wellness Medical Qigong Treatment Technique modules (Part 1, 2, 3 and 4) on 27th August 2017 🙂 As of October 2017, I have attended to more than 28 cases using Wellness Medical Qigong related to body pain, (lower back pain, shoulder, arm, hand, leg, knee & feet), swelling ( at arm/elbow and leg/knee/foot), inflammation of joints (e.g. frozen finger), gastric/heart burn, stomach pain/upset, high blood pressure, insomnia or hard to fall asleep, and many other issues.
FYI, you can start healing people the moment you complete the Wellness Medical Qigong Treatment Techniques Part 1 course. In Part 2, 3 and 4, we are taught more advance treatment techniques.
If you are not interested in treating others but more for self healing/maintenance, just attend the Essential Qigong Class over a weekend (2 days) and you will learn a skill that will benefit you for the rest of your life.
